Essemce AB were born and remain in the heart of the deepest forests of Småland, The Kingdom of Crystal. Since 1947 we have delivered Equipment and Tools to glassworks, studios and schools in over fifty countries.
In 1947 Gösta Melin started the company in the basement of his own home. At that point, just a few years after the end of the second world war, industry in Sweden was exploding. After years of disturbances and recession the country had finally started to recover, ambition and entrepreneurship permeated Europe and with his briefcase in one hand and a big portion of initiative in the other Gösta started visiting glassworks throughout Småland.
It was much more of an adventure than we can imagine today. On winding roads he headed out in a second hand Opel Olympia. He didn’t have a driving license, that was as hard to come by as anything else in the post-war years but he didn’t feel formalities should stand in the way of his enterprise.
Göstas adventurous visits to the glassworks then laid the foundation for the business that we see to this day. With over 70 years experience and one of the markets widest ranges Essemce is a leading supplier of everything from the very best tools to advanced production machinery. Today we are supplying production solutions for glassblowing on all continents, as well as caring for our local partners.
With big commitment we have through the years worked alongside our customers; Orrefors Kosta Boda, Iittala, Dartington Crystal, Simon Pearce, Denmark's Design Skole, Transjö: Hytta, Josiah McElheny and hundreds of others that are just as passionate about glass, as we are.
A lot has happened since the start in 1947. The market looks completely different and today we have customers in all parts of the world, all with different needs and professional ambitions. Our aim has always been is to constantly improve, putting innovation and deep knowledge at the heart of everything we do.

Ida brings much needed organisation and structure to Essemce. An impossible task keeping our small team focussed on what needs to be done. A Law Degree from Kings helps keep us all in check.
Engineer
Ben learns and works fast. He is best known for driving the pace through the production department and unknowingly singing unrecognisable songs with his headphones on.
Design Engineer
Petter likes to draw stuff. With a knowledge of rapid prototyping through to production ready products, Petter draws stuff with the rare capability to being able to build it as well.

An encyclopedic knowldege of Glass making equipment from over 40 years of fixing, building, designing and maintaining. Fully trained in electrical systems, gas and pneumatics. If it doesn't work, Pete knows why and if you want it to work, he knows how to do it.
